History

This late 19th century home and property were willed to the Brunswick community by Mr. and Mrs. Byron Stevens. The Stevens Home opened in 1932 to provide comfortable living for elderly citizens that meets our stated mission requirements. This goal remains the primary focus of the Home’s board of directors and staff.

Many improvements have been made to the building through the years, yet it has retained its homelike atmosphere. The newest improvement is the Laura Stevens Wing that opened in 2000 with 4 spacious resident rooms and a large, sunny community room for residents and their families to enjoy.

The Stevens Home is a non-profit corporation licensed by the State of Maine as a Residential Care Facility with a full-time administrator and trained staff to provide 24-hour supervision for residents. The devoted and caring staff makes The Stevens Home a special place to live.
